626 Night Market + Video Diary

On Saturday July 22, 2017, I went to 626 Night Market located at the Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia, CA. 626 Night Market is an event held every summer with hundreds of vendors – food, entertainment, arts, crafts, and merchandise. Admission is $5 (cash only), and all vendors only take cash. If you don’t have cash, there are ATM machines throughout the site.

The night market opens at 4 pm, and I usually suggest to my friends and family to arrive within the hour after it opens because lines for food will only be about a 5-10 minute wait. Usually around 6 pm more people are showing up, Β and the wait can go up to about an hour or more. A friend of mine went last year around 7 pm and waited an hour just for a lemonade, so arriving early is the best option if you want to try a few different food without having to wait too long. I arrived around 4:30 pm and went through about 4-5 different food vendors until I was full.

Onigiri with Chinese Sausages inside – $7

Lemonade and Strawberry Lemonade with watermelon – $10

Taiyaki Vanilla Ice Cream with Red Bean Filling – $7

Japanese Omelet with Spicy Mentaiko filling – $8

Just keep in mind that going early around 4-5 pm (the hottest time of the day) can be very hot. There isn’t many shaded area, so be sure to drink a lot of water, put on some sunblock, and wear a hat to prevent heat exhaustion.
