Anime Expo 2018 Photo Diary

On July 5-8, Anime Expo 2018 (AX18) welcomes anime and manga fans to the Los Angeles Convention Center in California. This is my 9th year attending Anime Expo, as well as my 3rd year volunteering with the Press Relations department. Although, I had a very busy schedule, I was still able to cosplay on day 1, and shop in the exhibit hall before noon each day. I felt like I barely slept throughout the 4-day event, so it was very tough going back to work on Monday. Here are some photos I’ve taken at AX18:

Anime Expo 2017 Photo Diary + Video

On June 30 to July 4, I volunteered at Anime Expo (AX) in the Press Relations department. It was a very busy schedule but I was still able to find time to cosplay and going around the exhibit hall to shop. This year AX 2017, there was about six world premieres – CardCaptor Sakura Prologue, Tokyo Ghoul Live Action, Welcome to the Ballroom, etc. There was more screenings, panels, and concerts, and the convention site extended to the JW Marriot by the LA Live for even more space. AX 2017 was fun and tiring, and it was tough going back to work on July 5th. I’ve been cosplaying for about 5 years now, and I felt that each year I’m improving my makeup, wig styling, and costume details (read about my first cosplay experience here). Here are some photos I’ve taken at AX 2017 located at the LA Convention Center in Los Angeles, CA.

My First Cosplay Experience

Anime Expo (AX) 2017 is approaching, and it’s that time of year where I’m scrambling to get all my costume together. This year, I am cosplaying as Honoka from Love Live! School Idol Project with my sister (as Kotori) and friend (Umi). This would be my friend’s first time cosplaying and attending a large convention, so for the last 6 months we were informing her of our experience and tips when cosplaying. Since I was already sharing my experience to my friend, who is cosplaying for the first-time, I thought I share my first cosplay experience on my blog.

Cosplay Ideas for Petites

I’ve been cosplaying for about 4 years now, and finding the perfect cosplay as a petite woman is challenging. I’m not talking about size of the costume, but finding a character that suits my height (4’10), facial feature, and body size can be difficult. I recently cosplayed as Sakura Kimonoto’s best friend, Tomoyo Daidouji, from Cardcaptor Sakura. You can check out that blog post here. When I attend conventions, I really try to perfect my cosplay by height. If I can’t find an anime I like with a short character, I usually try to cosplay as characters under the height of 5’2″.

“Cosplay is the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or video game, especially one from the Japanese genres of manga and anime.”

img_2266As an fan of anime, and an Anime Expo attendee since 2008, I will be sharing some of my favorite characters that can be great cosplays for petite girls/women 5’2″ and under. These anime series are also some of my favorites. When buying my cosplay, I like to look on eBay for sellers who sell “Asian sizes” because their clothes size are usually smaller, and the fit is perfect in length if you’re under 5 feet. If I buy a costume that is too big, I usually try to alter it myself (with some help from my mom and sister), or I would take it to a tailor. Continue reading “Cosplay Ideas for Petites”

Titan Con 2017 Cosplay: Tomoyo Daidouji

Cosplaying and attending anime conventions is one of my favorite hobbies. I love being able to dress up as my favorite character and take pictures of other cosplayers. Since 2013, I have always cosplay as Sakura Kimonoto from Cardcaptor Sakura. For Titan Con, I decided to go as Sakura’s best friend, Tomoyo Daidouji. Since this was a last minute decision to attend, I decided to go for something simple.

Tomoyo is an elementary school girl in the anime, so my height at 4’10 and my baby face worked out for this school girl cosplay. Here are a few photos from Titan Con 2017.
