Sunday Hike at Hermit Falls Trail

Last Sunday, my sister Wendy and I joined our friend David in a hike through Hermit Falls trail in Arcadia, CA at 6:00 am. Because we were all meeting up for lunch with some friends at 11:30 am, we decided to go on Hermits Falls trail which is supposedly easier than Sturtevant Falls trail. Similar to Sturtevant Falls, this trail starts at the top, and you hike down into the canyon, cross 2-3 streams in order to get to the waterfall at the end.

In my opinion, this trail was not easy. Yes, the trail is shorter that Sturtevant, but it’s a bit more treacherous and will take a little bit longer. The trail can get very narrow to about 2-3 feet wide. This includes trails coming along a hill slide, so we had to be very careful not to slip off the trail. I wouldn’t recommend small children to go on this trail. The waterfall at the end isn’t as picturesque as the waterfall on Sturtevant Falls trail, and the amount of graffiti on the boulders was a bit unpleasant.

A Day at Universal Studios Hollywood

On Sunday, my sister, my friend, and I went to Universal Studios Hollywood. I haven’t visited the park since middle school, and the last time I’ve been to City Walk was high school. My sister Wendy and my friend Richard were pretty excited because I get to see the newest attractions – Harry Potter World, Transformers, Minion ride, etc.  Since Richard was an avid visitor of universal (mainly for Harry Potter), he became our unofficial tour guide.

Disney’s Classic Afternoon Tea – Anaheim, CA

I finally recovered from the flu! For some reason I always get sick after my birthday week. Anyways, my birthday is on the first week of January (Capricorn babies), and my sister, my friend (whose birthday is also on the first week), and I decided to celebrate with afternoon tea. This is our second time coming here, so we agreed to keep it as our annual birthday tradition.

Located inside the Disneyland Hotel in Downtown Disney, Steakhouse 55 gives of a classic 1950s feel with their mahogany furnitures which is a perfect match for having tea. I ordered their “premium tea party” set which comes with: Continue reading “Disney’s Classic Afternoon Tea – Anaheim, CA”

Little Tokyo, Los Angeles CA: Ramen + Matcha Soft Serve Ice Cream

Happy Holidays! On Christmas Eve, I headed to Little Tokyo in Downtown Los Angeles for ramen and ice cream while catching up with some high school friends. We went to Ramen Maruya located in the Japanese Village. This is one of my favorite restaurants for ramen, and there is never a long wait around noon. I ordered their spicy tonkotsu ramen. Toppings includes thinly sliced pork charshu, boiled egg, bean sprouts, nori, green onions, and spicy sauce.

Saturday Hike at Sturtevant Falls Trail

On Saturday, I went hiking with my friend, and this is my first hike of 2017 (yea, really late). It was my first time at Sturtevant Falls, and everything is gorgeous. We woke up at 5:30 am, and arrived at the trail at about 6:35 a.m. It’s gets really crowded on weekends, and we were surprised to see there was a good amount of cars in the parking lot already.

In southern California, you’ll find that most of the tress are still green because we don’t really have winter here. This is a 3.1 mile hike, which we did not finished. Why? because a little over a mile into the trail, I asked my friend if he put up his parking permit (you have to pay for parking here). And, he didn’t. So, we had to hike back up the trail. This trail is mostly downhill, and the way back it’s up-hill. By the time we got back to the car, we were exhausted and hungry. So, we decided to call it a day, and go back next week or next month (depending on our schedule) to finish the trail. We’ve made a commitment, and we’re going to finish it. Also, there’s a waterfall at the end.

Here are some photos that I took with my Canon EOS M3.

Las Vegas, Nevada

A few days ago, I attended a conference for work. It was long and tiring, but on the last day I finally had a chance to explore a bit. I stayed at Bally’s Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, since the convention was held there. It’s located on the Las Vegas Strip next to Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. It was my first time staying at this hotel, and I have to say that I enjoyed it a lot.

Okay, story time: Like always, upon entering the casino, all the security guards stared me down every time I passed by. At the registration desk for our conference, I was asked if I was my vice president’s daughter. I have to admit we do look-alike. My VP told me to wear heals and makeup the next day to look a little older. She kept asking me if I brought my heels and makeup haha.

626 Night Market + Video Diary

On Saturday July 22, 2017, I went to 626 Night Market located at the Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia, CA. 626 Night Market is an event held every summer with hundreds of vendors – food, entertainment, arts, crafts, and merchandise. Admission is $5 (cash only), and all vendors only take cash. If you don’t have cash, there are ATM machines throughout the site.
